Miller Homes, working in partnership with second year students from the BA (Hons) in Interior Design course has set the students a brief to design a scheme for the master suite at its forthcoming development, Chene Hall at Killinghall.

“Working with the local community is of paramount importance to Miller Homes and at our other Harrogate developments, Harlow One and Quercus Green, we have had the pleasure of using local businesses and suppliers for our show homes and development,” commented Jan Hanaby area sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “To work with local students will be a real privilege and we are delighted to be able to support them in their studies.”

Students were issued with a detailed brief with input from interior designer Jeanette Holmes, who has been commissioned for the show home. They are required to provide a mood board, sample board and prepare a five minute presentation for the Miller Homes team who will be looking for a design that has interpreted the brief with flair and individuality. A decision will be made after presentations on 12th November.

“Our winner will then work with Jeanette, our site manager and myself to see how their scheme is brought to life and how a show home is created,” said Jan. “Each of our show homes is different as we take into consideration the demographic of our potential buyers and the homes that will be on offer. We are looking forward to working with the students from the college and to see the ideas that they have.”

Emma Smetham Course Leader Harrogate College concluded, “Studying is of great importance but it is also imperative that students can apply these skills to practical projects. Working with such a recognised and quality brand will allow them to understand the processes in this particular field of design and will undoubtedly give them valuable experience. It is a great opportunity for our students and also the college and we look forward to a strong partnership with the Miller Homes team.”

Miller Homes currently has 9 developments located across the region and has properties ranging from two bedroom apartments to five bedroom luxury homes. Developments in Harrogate include the prestigious Harlow One, which feature four and five bedroom luxury homes and Quercus Green, a development of three, four and five bedroom homes at the Knaresborough side of town where just a few four and five bedroom homes remain. Chene Hall is the housebuilders latest development which is at Killinghall to the North of the town which will open early in 2016.
