Harrogate College were represented at the AoC Regional Tournament in October 2015 in both Badminton singles and doubles, and Football.
AoC Sport is the lead organisation for college sport and physical activity, championing the education, employment and health benefits of participation in sport or physical activity.
On the Badminton courts, Year 1 Sport student Chris Lythe and Year 2 Sport student Angus Pitchford played fantastically well as a team and won the Men’s Doubles, sending them flying into the National Finals which will be held in April 2016 in Tyne and Wear.
Chris Lythe narrowly missed out on the Men’s singles win, but reached the final and was runner up.
“I’m extremely proud of my students for not only winning the men’s doubles but for also working as a team so well, in line with our new ‘skills/competitions’ additional learning goal.
Next stop for Angus and Chris is flying the flag for Harrogate College at the National finals in April 2016!” – Andy Reah, Sport tutor.
Despite the best efforts of the footballers, they unfortunately didn’t go beyond the group stages.
