Potato made star of the dish at British Potato Industry Dinner

Students in Catering and Hospitality at Harrogate College were given the opportunity to take part in work experience at the Harrogate Royal Hall on Thursday 12th November, to assist with the preparations for the British Potato Industry Dinner.

Frazer Coubly was announced last month as the winner of the competition to find the main course for the meal, where the humble potato was the star. Frazer’s fabulous British bubble ‘n’ squeak was prepared by the team and devoured by 800 hungry potato enthusiasts at the event.

The guests enjoyed a starter of crab and tea smoked mackerel tarts with duck egg mayonnaise.

Dessert was a chocolate fondant with salted caramel and pouring cream.  (Unfortunately it was eaten before the camera came out!)

Food and Beverage students were also given the chance to shine as part of the front of house team, waiting on the guests.
