Sadie Mae Martin studying on the BA (HONS) Interior Design course at Harrogate College has been announced as the winner of the Miller Homes design competition, where students competed against each other to win the chance to work on the design scheme for Miller Homes’ new build Chene Hall in Killinghall.
After a month of in depth research, planning and designing, the students had to pitchy their proposals to Miller Homes, including interior design Jeanette Holmes, who has been commissioned to carry out the work.
The group were invited to Harlow One in Harrogate to present in the plush show home living room, their plans to turn the master bedroom and en-suite bathroom of their new build Chene Hall at Killinghall, into a luxurious space.
The students were nervous but incredibly confident and professional in their pitches and made tutor Caroline Houseman very proud.
“My group have worked extremely hard over the past month to work to this tight deadline which reflects real life. I’m so proud of them all as they’ve all developed their own skills in different ways and have all tackled the brief from a different angle.”- Caroline Houseman, course tutor.
“We’ve definitely learned to appreciate timing of projects! It’s been a fantastic experience from start to finish that will undoubtedly help us all when we’ve finished our degrees. It’s been great to work with people in the industry and I’m so excited to put my ideas into practice working with Jeanette Holmes. I can’t believe I won!”- Sadie Mae Martin, winning Interior Design student.
