Students across all courses at Harrogate College enjoyed a trip to Hull on Tuesday 10 May to celebrate their success and achievement at the Social Enterprise Project Awards, at which Harrogate students were announced winners.
Kelly Bishop studying NVQ Level 2 Beauty was the winner in the ‘Raising Awareness’ category, after she campaigned to raise awareness of the symptoms, signs and treatment of Anaphylaxis.
A team of students studying on the NVQ Level 3 Beauty received certificates in the highly recommended category for ‘Making a Difference’ after the group raised over £50 for Mind in Harrogate. The students also raised awareness of mental health and regularly met with Val from the organisation to keep her up to date with progress.
“On behalf of the members, staff and trustrees at Mind in Harrogate District, I would like to thank the students and student coach Tracy Goundrill for the fundraising campaign on our behalf and for raising awareness of mental health issues.
I have thoroughly enjoyed coming to meet the Beauty students and seeing the Enterprise Project take shape. The finished product is a credit to the hard work and commitment of the team!” – Val Longley, Service Manager at Mind in Harrogate District.
