The group spent the run up to the two night performance, perfecting their lines, stage directions and technical aspects of the show as well as promoting it on Stray FM’s Education and Training Show.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the show; it’s always lovely to see the students doing so well in their work.”- Pat Jones, guest.
The ticket included a buffet, created by former Harrogate College catering tutor Rosie South, who has gone on to open her own vegetarian café in Ripon, Treasure and Relish.
“The Wiz was fantastic – performance levels of the students have gotten better as the year has progressed and there was a polish to this performance that I haven’t seen before. Both the singing and dancing scenes were spectacular and the venue just right for this particular show.
Congratulations to all the students and staff involved and to those that worked behind the scenes as well.” – Penny Garner, Head of School.
The shows attract a large audience every time and are a great opportunity for the Performing Arts students to gain extremely valuable experience, working in different venues as they would in the industry.
Course tutor Robin Burch was very pleased with the way the show turned out.
“It was a true professional challenge to the students to perform a full scale musical in this new venue. They took control of their own learning and developed new skills, producing a series of improving dress rehearsals culminating in a strong final show. They should be proud of their own development, and, build upon this in the future.”
The final production of the year will be Find Me, in the Metro Restaurant of Harrogate College, as a fair well to B Block, after half term. Tickets will be available from Business Support.
