Harrogate College celebrated the success and achievement of students at the Further Education Awards ceremony at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate, on Tuesday 28 June 2016.
The Old Swan Hotel was a beautiful venue for such an inspirational awards ceremony, and was packed with the family, friends and tutors and of the students as well as support from special guests including local employers and Mayors and Mayoresses.
The awards ceremony was opened by the Chief Executive of the Hull College Group Gary Warke, followed by an EBook presentation of photos and success stories from the students, throughout the course of the year.
Harrogate College Principal Debra Forsythe-Conroy welcomed students and guests to the award ceremony and was proud to present each nominee with a certificate of achievement, with rounds of applause for each individual.
It was then onto the categories of 16-18 and 19+ students of the year from the School of Business and Professional Studies, presented by head of school Jane Laine, where winners Mary Roche, studying Child Care and Scott Palmer studying his GCSE’s were invited onto the stage to collect their specially engraved glass award for them to take home and be proud of.
Next, the head of school for the School of Cultural, Contemporary and Heritage Studies, Penny Garner graced the stage to present awards to the winners of 16-18 and 19+ student of year. The winners in these categories were Danielle Boarman studying Art and Design and Michael Holmes studying Brick Laying.
There was a very warm atmosphere at the Further Education event, with students and guests beaming with congratulations, along with some very surprised faces of those who had won special awards.
“It was lovely to see the transformation in the students as they grow in confidence throughout the year and it’s a wonderful event at which we can come together to celebrate their achievements!” Grace Todd, guest.
