Performing Arts students entertain crowds at Christmas Variety Show

Harrogate College’s Performing Arts students wowed crowds of over 50 guests each night at their Christmas Variety Show, held at Oatlands Mount Club in Harrogate.

The performance, on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7 December, involved a number of varied scenes from comedies, sketch shows, dramas, musicals and TV, and was all put together in a way that flowed well and kept the audience gripped.

“The students have worked extremely hard to put the Christmas Show together and it was absolutely wonderful. We even had former students coming back to help with the production of the show, which was great!”- Robin Burch, course tutor.

The variety of scenes throughout the show meant there were also an abundance of rapid costume changes, and on hand to help were the Media and Theatrical Makeup students, who were ready behind the scenes to erase the characters and paint new ones!

Media makeup “It was a great opportunity for the media makeup students to get stuck in with a college project involving the performing arts students. They all did a brilliant job and worked quickly and efficiently, and it was fun!”- Katie Sharman, media makeup tutor.

Performing Arts students Courtney, Jaxon and Georgia were all thrilled with how the show went.

Courtney Harper – “It’s a great experience to be able to put on your own show; it’s something that we’re all really interested in. We come up with scenes as a team and rehearse so it’s really exciting to put it all together as a final product and show it off!”

Jaxon Smith – “I loved performing on the stage and working with the cast. We enjoy team work and the end of year show brings all the year groups together.”

Georgia Mills – “The show was lots of fun, enjoyable and I learned that the show must go on, even when your microphone is turned off!”
