Harrogate art and design student taken on as Press Officer for Harrogate Town AFC

Harrogate College Art and Design student Maya Jagger has successfully gained herself a voluntary position working as Press Officer for Harrogate Town AFC.

Maya, who currently works as the Marketing Officer for the Hull College Group Student’s Union and as a guest blogger for the Harrogate College blog, applied for the position to gain experience in an area she feels passionate about.

“I want to gain as much experience as possible, to continue building up my portfolio and my CV and I can’t wait to get stuck in!” – Maya Jagger

The Press Officer position was opened up to Harrogate College students as part of the on-going partnership with Harrogate Town AFC, which offers students studying on every course, the opportunity to play football with HTAFC. Further opportunities with the club have been created to support the students’ work experience placements, including photography, catering, marshalling and match day commentating.

“In the last 12 months, our club has grown significantly and we’re not just about 90 minutes on a Saturday anymore. We are pleased to offer a variety of exciting opportunities for Harrogate College students to get involved with, as our off-field requirements are increasing on an almost daily basis. With the playing staff all becoming full-time, professional footballers as of next season, we are certainly on the lookout for talented young people who can help us achieve our ambitious growth plans” – Daniel McGeachie, Harrogate Town AFC

Maya will now be working with the women’s football team at Harrogate Town AFC to showcase their talents and personalities as well as highlighting the importance of getting women into football, at any level.
