Harrogate staff member nominated in worldwide poetry competition

Harrogate College staff member Tracey Goundrill has last week revealed her hidden talent to colleagues; that she writes poetry.

Student Coach Tracey has been writing poetry in her spare time and in secret for quite some time, never thinking that anybody would read her work. However, last month, Tracey took the plunge and decided to enter her poem titled ‘The Red Kite’ into the Cosmofunnel World Wide Poetry Competition.

Tracey’s poem, inspired by the magnificent birds of prey that circle over Yorkshire, has since been read 1597 times on the competitions website and has been given a 5 star rating ahead of the final judging for the winners of each category.

“I’m absolutely flabbergasted at response that my poem has received. It was a hard decision to share my poetry with the world but I’m so glad I did it; it’s been a real confidence boost!” – Tracey Goundrill

Tracey will find out the results of the competition in April.
